In this shot we see the High Chief (an honor that was legitimately bestowed upon Maivia by his countrymen) in his full glory, proudly wearing his traditional Samoan clothing.  As I mentioned in my audio commentary, the Chief paid a heavy price for the tattoos that signified his lofty rank, and nearly lost his life by having 6 months worth of tattooing done in just 3 days.
