The Baltimore Civic Center was sold-out the night I took the title, and man, those eleven or twelve thousand fans were ready to tear the place down when I pinned Bruno!

Seriously...they were ready to explode, and for a few moments, it was pretty frightening for me.

The match was included in the WWF's title history video from the eighties, and for those of you that have a copy, you might have noticed that once my hand was raised and I was given the belt, I immediately rolled out of the ring and tried to make it back to the dressing room as fast as humanly possible.  There was a reason for my hasty retreat, and it was simple -- the people were so infuriated that they were ready to kill me, brother!  I'm serious, they wanted The Superstar's head on a pole!

I can still recall, extremely vividly, trying to make my way through the irate mob of fans blocking my pathway to the dressing rooms, and thinking to myself, "Superstar...you might not make it out of here tonight!"  They were spitting in my face, taking drunken swings at me, throwing drinks, popcorn, and anything else they could get their hands on -- it was one of the most intense (and frightening) experiences of my life.  I had just cheated their lifelong hero out of his title, and they did not take it lightly, to say the least!
