Here's the big moment, a mid-action photo taken just at the ref was about to make the final three count, and award me the title.
The infamous, highly controversial finish of the match was designed to do a number of things. First, it would allow Bruno to be pinned without losing his dignity. Secondly, it put me over Bruno, but at the same time, the win was controversial enough that it planted a seed of doubt in the minds of the fans, which translated into an incredible run of sold-out rematches up and down the east coast in the months following my victory. And finally, it forced those millions of rabidly loyal pro-Bruno fans to absolutely hate my guts -- which is exacly how I wanted them to react, brother!
The result was one of the most important and memorable title changes in the history of wrestling, and a match that I'm extremely proud of.
