Kate Gillroy
A Tribute
June 15, 1976 - October 18, 2002

It's incredibly difficult to put into word's the overwhelming gratitude, admiration and, yes, even love I have for an amazing young woman whom I never had the privilege of meeting in life. Yet on October 18, 2002, that young woman gave to me the greatest gift that one human being can give another. She gave me my life back.

Kate Gillroy , a 26 year old single mother of an amazing little boy was involved in a horrific motor vehicle accident. She would not recover , but during her life Kate made it abundantly clear to her family that if anything were to happen to her she wanted to be an organ donor. Her wonderful family remembered this and they graciously honored her wishes. Because of Kate's selflessness I (and several others) are alive today. My wife Valerie and I have had the honor of meeting Kate's family and because a part of their precious loved one lives on in me, we had an instant bond and I know the friendship that we have developed will endure. I believe that Kate is aware of what her amazing gift has done and I have promised her that I will protect this gift and live each day to the fullest making the absolute most of the time that I have been given. So I say thank you my beautiful sister, Kate.

You will not be disappointed.
