I guess a picture really can paint a thousand words...or something like that.
Looking at this photo, one can almost hear the deafening round of boos and jeers (mixed in with a few cheers) that Graham & The Wiz evoked from the sold-out MSG audience that they were performing for when this picture was taken in `77.
Although he always had his (small but loyal...and vocal) share of supporters, most fans of this kayfabed era absolutely hated, literally despised Billy Graham and The Wizard. There was a reason for that, and it had a lot to do with Graham's natural ability (and desire) to make the fans boo the *&^@$! out of him, and simultaneously cheer the babyface he was wrestling as if he was a returning war hero.
For those of you who are newer wrestling fans, and may not be very familiar with guys who, instead of constantly trying to suck up to the fans by being cool and hip, actually try to, y`know, make you hate them, let me assure you that at one time such a wrestler did, in fact, exist.
We used to call them "heels."
