Dominic Denucci may be known to current wrestling fans as the man who saw heart and determination in a young, pudgy Mick Foley, and trained him for what would turn out to be one of the greatest careers in the history of wrestling.

But fans of the seventies knew the brawny Italian as one of the WWWF's best "carpenters," a man who went into the ring, built other wrestlers up, and gave a good match each time out, even if he didn't win a great deal of them.  However, when this photo was shot, Denucci was in his prime, a former World Tag Team champion who was now going after the singles gold.

There was only one problem for the popular ethnic star, though, and it came in the form of the 6'4" 275-pound massively muscled Heavyweight champion.  In order to get the belt, Denucci had to go through The Superstar -- and let's be honest, that just wasn't going to happen.  Still, Graham helped elevate Denucci in the eyes of the fans to the point where tens of thousands of them were willing to pay to see Denucci get his shot at the gold.
