"High Chief" Peter Maivia was another great foe of Billy Graham, and their matches crossed state and promotional lines.  Originally, they ignited their long-running feud in the NWA's San Francisco territory, when Graham was still a rookie.  In 1971, Maivia and his partner, the legendary Ray Stevens, were defeated for the San Francisco version of the World Tag Team title by Graham and Pat Patterson.  By the time this photo was taken, the roles had been reversed, and it was Maivia portraying the role of the challenger, trying his best to upset the WWWF champion Graham.
